The Origin of the Global Cuisine Awards

The purpose of the Global Cuisine Awards is to honor the best restaurants, wines and chefs on a global scale. In 2017, American Food Association organized the Global Cuisine Awards for the first time. GCA has honored Chinese cuisine, but has now expanded to incorporate global cuisines. With the increasing popularity of Chinese cuisine, interest and demand has rapidly expanded, especially in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York.

 

Last year, the Global Cuisine Awards honored Los Angeles Restaurants for their impact on the world’s culinary community. Past winners include the renowned restaurants CUT by Wolfgang Puck, Mr. Chow, Felix, Spago, and EMC Seafood & Raw Bar. ​

Voting Process

First, Nominees will be selected by GCA board members. Members of the American Food Association and Global Cuisine Awards Committee will then vote to narrow down each category to five nominees. Next, the public will be able to vote on their favorite restaurants through the Global Cuisine Awards website and other online voting platforms. The top three nominees from each category with the most votes will be selected.
The final winner will be determined through a combination of public votes and board member votes - the GCA committee’s vote will have a weight of 30% and the public votes will have a weight of 70%.
